Forge a Camp Knife
Workshop Instructor: Jeff Farmer

​Add to your blacksmithing skills as you use a coal forge to heat the metal to make a camp knife. Topics covered include safety, managing temperature, controlling hot metal and shaping. You may take this class if you have attended a workshop with Jeff Farmer in the past.

• Location: Berea Welcome Center Back Platform - 3 Artist Circle (Workshop is held outside. Active railroad in close vicinity to location. Workshop is not handicap accessible.)

• Date/Time: July 15th OR 29th from 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM

• Break: NA

• Total Hours: 4 hours

• Price: $75.00 (Includes all materials and use of equipment.)

• Age: 14 & Up (Participants under 18 MUST be accompanied by one parent, legal guardian or authorized adult through the duration of the workshop. If the parent, legal guardian or authorized adult wishes to participate, they must also register for the workshop. • Difficulty: Advanced (You may take this class if you have attended a workshop with Jeff Farmer in the past.)

• Class Size: 6 Max

• Take Home: One forged camp knife.

• Notes: Workshop will be held outdoors. For safety, participants must wear long pants and sturdy closed toe shoes (leather shoes preferred) and bring safety glasses and ear protectors (if noise bothers you). Participants not meeting these requirements will not be allowed to join the class. If a participant shows a disregard for his/her personal safety or the safety of others, the instructor may ask the party to leave.

• NOTE TO EDUCATORS: Educators attending this session will receive access to cross-curricular resources, suggested classroom activities based on skills and concepts covered in session, and a certificate of participation for Professional Learning documentation.
