Japanese Pierce Bound Book

​This workshop will briefly cover descriptions of various types of Japanese pierced bindings and will include several examples of completed books for examination. We will assemble a whole book from beginning to end, with materials pre-cut to size in order to expedite the process. Participants will make a hard cover book containing 40 sheets (80 pages). The covers will be finished with cloth on the spine and decorative paper on the remainder.

• Take Home: A 40 sheet (80 page) blank book with hinged, hard covers and an exposed, hand sewn binding. A variety of cover designs will be available to choose from. The completed book measures approximately 5” tall x 9” wide with a landscape orientation.

• Notes: This workshop requires the application of paste using a brush and it can be rather messy. Wear appropriate clothes or bring your own apron. We will use a cordless power drill in this class; assistance will be provided if needed.
