Shiitake and Oyster Mushroom Log Inoculation

Using fresh winter cut White Oak and Tulip Poplar logs, you will learn how to use hand and power tools to cut, drill, inoculate and seal as well as locate places to grow your own edible log grown mushrooms. All participants will take home one inoculated log and more can be purchased for $10 - $30 each depending on the diameter; all logs are pre-cut to 40”. Printed educational materials will be available for each student. If available, fresh grown mushrooms will be cooked after workshop for a tasty (free) treat for participants and fresh grown mushrooms will be available for purchase.

• Location: The Cabin of Old Town Artisan Gallery (Back Porch) - 3 Artist Circle (Workshop is held outside.)

• Date/Time: July 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th, 29th from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM OR 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

• Age: 16 & Up (Participants under 18 MUST be accompanied by a participating parent, legal guardian or authorized adult. All participants under 18 MUST bring a Youth Authorization Form, completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian, found at this Attendees Resources link.)

• Class Size: 6 Max

• Take Home: Handouts and one inoculated log.

• Notes: Participants must be able to lift a 6” dia. x 40” log up to 50 Lbs. or share load with another participant. Wear work clothes and work shoes. Candle wax may be spilled or dripped during sealing process. Bring work gloves, safety glasses and ear protectors if you have them, if not they will be provided for use.
